Planning .... Where to Start
As soon as possible, contact us at My Greek Wedding and arrange
a wedding date... if your first choice is not available, we will advise
you of the nearest possible date. Once you have picked the date, you might
want to start looking at flights...
Please bear in mind you need to be a resident of Kefalonia for eight days
(including day of arrival) before the wedding date.

Necessary
Paperwork for Civil Weddings (for UK Citizens):
A photocopy of Bride's and Groom's Passports.
Full birth certificates for the Bride and Groom
Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage for Bride and Groom
(This must be applied at your local Superintendent Registrar Office no
earlier than three months before your wedding date).
Decree absolute (if any of the parties is divorced)
Deed poll certificate (If any of the parties has changed his/her name
by Deed Poll)
Adoption papers (if any of the parties was adopted)
Death certificate (If any of the parties is a widow/widower)
If either of the couple is under 18 years, proof of parental consent in
the form of a Statutory Declaration is required, stamped and signed by
a solicitor.
Important Note I: Photocopies of Birth Certificate
& Decree Absolute must be stamped and signed by the Apostille Hague
Convention. An Apostille is a special seal applied by an authority to
certify that a document is a true copy of an original.

Important Note II: The originals must be brought
with you when you travel to Greece.
Important Note III: All necessary paperwork needs
to be sent BY COURIER to us no later than one month before the official
wedding date.
Important Note IV: For all types of weddings, it
is required that two witnesses be present. In case that the groom and
the bride are traveling on their own, our staff will be happy to offer
assistance and act as witnesses at the wedding ceremony.
